Peret, the father of Catalan rumba, visited El Puerto de Santa María in the 1960s, and Ponche Caballero signed him on to promote the brand through advertising spots of the time.
In the late 70s, Las Mellizas featured the musical theme “Caballero, Caballero, Caballero, Ponche Caballero,” a hit that, a few years later, was taken on by Azúcar Moreno, along with Raimundo Amador and Rafa Abitol from the group La Unión, in the 90s. In the 2000s, artists such as Paulina Rubio and Chenoa performed the rockier version of this jingle.
In 2024, La Húngara has reinterpreted this famous jingle. A new, more contemporary version, solidified with the brand and merging a renowned artist of the moment with a product that remains timeless.
Sonia Priego, known as La Húngara, is one of the most successful and versatile artists in the Spanish flamenco scene. Starting in 2001 with a karaoke performance of “Ese hombre” by Rocío Jurado, she has continued to achieve success. In 2010, she composed the song “Yo soy español” in tribute to the Spanish football team, which was crowned champions at the World Cup in South Africa that year. She revitalized her career during the pandemic by collaborating at the end of 2020 with C. Tangana and Niño de Elche on the track “Tú me dejaste de querer,” which became the best debut by a Spanish artist in the history of Spotify Spain and achieved gold status in its first week.
For all these reasons, we wanted her to be the Ambassador of a way of life, our way of life. Ambassador of “knowing how to live is Ponche Caballero,” a phrase full of zest for life and overflowing with enthusiasm.
